Meaningful Membership Matters

Lead Pastor Update October 1, 2021

I am so pleased to hear great news about our wonderful fellowship and the great leadership being provided by our Deacons, Yokefellows, and Brother David Warren.  The Lord is using each and everyone in their own special ministries, but I want to especially thank Linda Corwin for her work with the Seniors, Widows and the food ministry to her Pastor's family. I also want to thank everyone involved in the renewed Homework Club Initative, God will bless your efforts in a mighty way.

In two weeks, The Church Renewal Journey Team will be arriving for our third weekend focusing on Prayer.  Tom, Brenda, and Brother Steve Hopkins will be leading the team, but the renewal will only continue if we actively participate and engage in the training being provided.  Please make the commitment to not only attend October 15-17, but to seek the Lord and His will for you through prayer.  A copy of the entire schedule of events is available for you in the foyer and through a link on our website homepage.

If you have not done so already, I strongly encourage you to view The Eagle's View Daily Devotion for the week of September 27 through October 1, where I speak on Putting on the Armor of God with Prayer.   This next week, I'll be sharing "Praying the Pastor's Heart" from 1 Thessalonians 3.

As a brief reminder and a word of futher encouragement to our Deacons and Yokefellows.  I  continue to work on the Second CLEAR Path Workshop which will begin in January 2022.  We'll be looking at "Deacons, Partners in the Ministry" and the Heart of Christ.  I fully expect this will not only a time of bonding through training, but a wonderful time of celebration of the ministry you are so faithfully performing. The church and I are greatly blessed by each of you.

I close with an medical update on my cancer treatment. As your Pastor, I believe it is important to be transparent with the church family so you may know how best to pray.

I have completed 23 out of 30 radiation treatments.  October 12, is my last scheduled radiation treatment.  I have also completed my second round of Chemotherapy this past week.  If all continues to go well, my fourth and final round of Chemo will be the week of November 8.   I am planning to return as soon as my white blood count will permit the Doctors to release me.

Two additional issues have risen during my treatment, which is not uncommon with the Chemotherapy.  I have developed Trush will makes swallowing difficult, and I am now required to take a shot the day after Chemo to stimulate my bone marrow to produce more white blood cells.

I have an appointment on October 5 with a Neurologist regarding the ongoing numbness and weakness that has spread throughout my body.  Your contiuned prayers are greatly coveted.

Thank you once again for all the wonderful food, cards and visits throughout this unique time.  Remember, God is in control and He is working all things for our good and His glory.  I praise Him for you and your continued faithfulness to our Lord and His church at Monterey.

In Loving Service,

Pastor Daryl
